A young man named Akira Kiriyama, who grew up in the rural town of Coney Island, dreams of seeing a world beyond his hometown. Leaving behind the people who oppose his dreams, he boards a Blue Aviation flight.

시골 마을 코니 아일랜드에서 자란 청년 키리야마 아키라는 더 넓은 세상을 꿈꾸며 주변의 반대를 뒤로하고 Blue Aviation 비행기에 오른다.

여행을 떠난 아키라는 도시에서 세레나 보웬스를 만난다. 부유한 보웬스 가문의 외동딸인 세레나는 세련되고 아름답지만, 거칠고 털털하며 비교적 남성적인 성격을 가진 자유로운 여자다.

두 사람은 서로에게 끌리고 사랑에 빠진다.

하지만 아키라의 사랑은 점차 집착과 소유욕으로 변한다. 세레나는 결국 숨 막히는 관계를 견디지 못하고 아키라와 헤어진다.
